WHAT IS CRU?
Bruin Cru is a community passionate about connecting people to Jesus. Our vision is to love UCLA & engage students with the Gospel so that every Bruin knows someone who truly follows Jesus. We pray that God would transform us to be more like Him and send us out to be His laborers both here at UCLA and around the world.
Cru is an international, interdenominational Christian organization founded here at UCLA in 1951 by Bill and Vonette Bright. Today, Cru is active on over 2,000 campuses in 197 countries. Our hope is to give each of the 110 million college students worldwide an opportunity to hear the Gospel! The mission of Cru is to turn lost students into Christ-centered laborers. Our purpose is to help fulfill the Great Commission, found in Matthew 28:18-20:
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
We believe that a relationship with God through Jesus Christ is the only answer to hope in this life and eternity. Jesus says in John 10:10, “I came that they might have life and have it abundantly.” Through surrendering, we can become children of God and find meaning and purpose. This is the life our Father intended us to have!
God desires to shape our lives to His eternal purpose and use us to make an eternal impact in the lives of those around us. We hope to share God’s life-giving message with everyone possible, and then trust Him with the results.
